Central NJ Brain Tumor Support
Group & All My Brain Tumor Patients
Fundraising Goal: $300.00
Amount Raised: $0.00
I am a neuro-oncology nurse at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute Brain
Tumor Center at JFK Hospital in Edison. For the last 19 years, I have committed
my life to working with brain tumor patients. As Founder of the Central NJ Brain
Tumor Support Group, I have walked the journey with many brain tumor patients
and am in awe of their courage.
The Support Group provides personal and group support for survivors, their
families, friends, and the medical community. Knowledge and education are
healing and empowering tools. We also raise awareness of the magnitude and
devastating effects of brain tumors within our community and nation.
Some brain tumor facts:
This will be my first half marathon. The Central NJ Brain Tumor Support Group is
looking to host a conference later this year. Please support me as I run for
this wonderful group.
- Three hundred thousand people in the United States receive a diagnosis of a
brain tumor every year or 822 people are diagnosed every day or 1.75 people are
diagnosed every minute.
- Brain tumors are the leading cause of death in children under age 20 now
surpassing acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and are the second leading cause
of cancer death in young adults ages 20-39.
- Brain tumor patients, including those with certain "benign" brain tumors, have
poorer survival rates than breast cancer patients.
